The 2018 Korean drama starring Lee Jong-Hyun as Oh Soo and Kim So-Eun as Seo Yoo-Ri. Also known as “That Man Oh Soo.”
Brief summary: Oh Soo is part of a line of descendants chosen by a magical tree, which pollen can be used much like Cupid’s arrow. But Cupid doesn’t seem to have much to do with it when Oh Soo falls for his lovely neighbor, a local cop. The problem is that this cop seems forever out of reach and Oh Soo doesn’t even know how to go about his own feelings!
This drama isn’t too complicated. It’s pretty simple and feels like a good choice around Valentine’s Day!
First off: I liked the opening theme song. It reminds me a lot of the OSTs for “Goblin” and “Just Between Lovers.” The style seems to be popular for dramas right now, so I can’t complain :)
The way the writers worked the magic tree into the drama felt a little much like a fairytale. I half-expected it to be the home of a throng of fairies! The pollen even looks pixie dust, too! However, it became clear to me that the story was supposed to be about Oh Soo and Seo Yoo Ri, rather than the magic tree.
I didn’t expect the story to take the turn it did. The drama seemed so much like a simple romantic comedy! How were any of us supposed to know?
But I don’t think the amnesia thing did much for the ending. In general I’m not that fond of amnesia tropes, and this one didn’t help.
The drama is cute, sweet, and to the point. It’s a good one! 4/5 stars!
