★★★★

The 2016 Korean drama, starring Ok Taecyeon as Park Bong-Pal, Kim So-Hyun as Kim Hyun-Ji, and Kwon Yul as Joo Hye-Sung, also known as “Hey Ghost, Let’s Fight.”

Brief synopsis: Park Bong-Pal has had a unique ability for almost as long as he can remember- he can see ghosts and exorcise them through physical contact, or fighting. He exorcises ghosts for money, but when his stash starts to diminish,  he becomes willing to accept any opportunity. When he receives an anonymous text report for a ghost, he investigates only to find that his correspondent IS a ghost! This ghost, Kim Hyun-Ji, is definitely not like the other spirits Bong-Pal has faced, and he agrees to let her hang around him to fight malicious spirits together. The two of them make a great team, but there seems to be a deeper plot unfolding around them than just the cases they handle.

Not a bad drama! Cute, laughs, heartstrings- all the whistles and bells in this one! It was well executed and the cast was great! This drama may be well considered a merge between the American rom-com “Just Like Heaven” and the Korean drama “The Master’s Sun.”

Taecyeon was super cute. This was my first drama starring him, although I know he has had roles in many other dramas before this one. The other side of his entertainment career can be found in his role in the Korean group 2PM, as the main rapper.

Something unique about the plot is that there is this underlying mystery throughout the entire series, but we only see snippets of the investigation about it. This is largely because the main objective of this drama is to lead you through the development and emotions of the two main characters, Bong-Pal and Hyun-Ji. Because these two characters remain largely unaware of that deeper plot until the last few episodes, that’s when we finally find it out along with them.

The last four episodes were definitely my favorite because that’s when the plot intensified.

If I had to pick a favorite element throughout, however, it would definitely be Choi Cheon-Sang and Kim In-Rang! The two provided a comic relief that didn’t quite mix well with the rest of the drama (in my opinion), but I appreciated them all the same! They always brought a smile to my face, no matter how absurd they behaved.

It’s not a bad drama! A good one if you’re looking for that special spooky theme to cuddle up in a blanket to. It doesn’t quite make my list of favorites, but it’s a good one, all the same! Enjoy!
