Brief synopsis: Go Hye-Rim is a fortune teller, and calls her cafe business “Madame Antoine” because she claims her fortune-telling skills come from her connection to Marie Antionette. But when a clinical psychologist moves his office in the upstairs of her building, business becomes difficult for both Hye-Rim and the psychologist Choi Soo-Hyun. In an act of revenge for stealing his client, Soo-Hyun decides to make her the subject of his next experiment, out to prove that true love doesn’t really exist. However as Soo-Hyun starts to spend more time with Hye-Rim, he starts to feel things he never really expected to feel.

This drama was enjoyable for a rom-com, but it didn’t exhibit the traits that would have sparked my personal interest or would have merited it a 5/5 star rating.

The shining crown of the drama was Sung-Joon’s involvement. He’s well known especially for his height and low voice, which is perhaps what qualified him to play an older role.

“Madame Antoine” started out really well and funny, but watching became something of a chore as the main characters started to cycle in their lying games. One would tell a lie, and the other would pretend they didn’t know it was a lie, and then the roles would switch, and it became a cycle like that.

There was nothing striking about “Madame Antoine” that caught my attention. The psychology aspect of the drama wasn’t terribly incorrect, but that was the extent of what I noticed. It’s not a bad drama, though. It’s a cute rom-com, without many K-drama cliches so it’s a bit unique!
