The 2015 Korean drama, starring Kim Young-Kwang as Lee Hae-Sung, Jung So-Min as Jung Ddol-Mi, Ha Seok-Jin as Han Woo-Jin, Kim Hye-Eun as Kang Joo-Ran, and Lee Geung-Young as Park Gun.
Brief synopsis: Lee Hae-Sung is as much a courageous doctor as they come, but his impulsive behavior leads the Mirae Hospital director to remove him to a small branch hospital. When an unthinkable earthquake strikes Seoul, it's going to take Dr. Lee Hae-Sung and a bunch of other inexperienced doctors to save as many lives as possible. But while Seoul is trying to pick itself up after such a catastrophe, how are the doctors going to manage the battle between the drive to save lives and Director Park's ambitions?
It was hard not to get sucked into this drama. D-Day was quite captivating. There was something exciting around every corner. It sometimes left me a little scared, not because it's a horror drama, but because merging disaster and medical drama doubles the suspense that comes with each already. As someone who likes medical drama and disaster drama (if it has a happy ending), I liked this one without thinking about it too much.
I loved to think I was solving problems with the characters. Every challenge that came their way, I tried thinking of possible solutions as well. D-Day really makes you think about what you might do in an emergency situation such as an earthquake or other major catastrophe.
This isn't really a romantic drama, although we could probably label Lee Hae-Sung and Jung Ddol-Mi as the OTP. One kiss between those two, and that one honestly couldn't hold a candle to the one between Han Woo-Jin and Park Ji-Na.
But the ending is pretty good! I was satisfied, although it would have been nice to see Hae-Sung and Ddol-Mi really pursue a relationship ♡
I particularly liked watching Kim Young-Kwang as the lead. Tall, easy on the eyes, and our main protagonist. How could we not like him?
I would watch it again with friends. 5/5 stars!
