I know I’ve reviewed mostly TV dramas up to this point, but film is another thing that deserves attention although it may be critiqued in a completely different manner.

This is a good movie. I was really enjoying myself up until the last 30 minutes or so! It had a really cool concept that could have turned into a full-length TV drama, but I don’t think everyone would be as okay with the ending in the same way after 2 hours. It would have given us too much time to get attached to the characters if 16 hours were allotted.

The setting (small, country town, post-war) was actually really cute. The werewolf concept could have been applied to any time period, but choosing a past time was a really clever move. It gave the story a bit more depth and value.

So really, I was dying over how cute Song Joong-Ki’s character was until the last half hour when the main female lead abused his trust. No, not so cool with that. She may have gotten a happy ending, but he didn’t. Too much was taken at his expense. I had been warned about the ending, and I didn’t cry or anything, but it was a little hard to accept after the first half of the film had been so cute and fluffy.

Moreover, the couple isn't as romantic as I thought they would be. Their relationship seems more based on companionate love than anything else, and that's likely what tugs at our heartstrings because it's so adorable.

And I think everyone was relieved to see that Ji-Tae character get what he deserved.

Even if the ending wasn't exactly picture perfect, this movie is fantastic! 5/5 stars!
