The 2015 Korean film starring Lee Seung-Gi as Kang Jun-Soo and Moon Chae-Won as Kim Hyeon-Woo.
Brief summary: For 18 years, Kang Jun-Soo has had a crush on the same woman, stuck in friend zone for eternity. It’s not like he hasn’t tried to get over it, though, but all of his relationships seem to fail for one reason or another. Now that Hyeon-Woo has gotten herself involved in a more dangerous relationship, will anything change?
This is delightful rom-com that is surprisingly clean despite the occasion vulgar language and slang. It’s cute and Lee Seung-Gi and Moon Chae-Won make such a dynamic pair!
Honestly, I would have fallen hard for Jun-Soo. He’s such a gentleman! And as an elementary school teacher, his patience must be through the roof! Poor guy, stuck in the friend zone, but he was so unappreciated by Hyeon-Woo that I kept thinking “Hey! Come to me instead! I’ll love you more!” But then that other girl proved that Jun-Soo just couldn’t think about anyone else.
My favorite line: “I’m sorry. I must’ve had too much soda,” (said like “I must’ve had too much [alcohol] to drink”)— Kang Jun-Soo. I love this line because all my friends know I don’t drink, either. The most adventurous I get in beverages is one of those new flavor Mountain Dew’s. I just never thought to use soda as an excuse like alcohol. 😂😂
The only think I could hav asked more from this movie was that we could see a bit more development and deliberation from Hyeon-Woo. However, it’s understandable that we didn’t because this is Jun-Soo’s story. In fact, he’s the one narrating throughout and whose thoughts we hear as we watch.
So cute and funny! 5/5 stars.
