⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The 2018 Korean drama starring Park Seo-Joon as Lee Yeong-Joon, Park Min-Young as Kim Mi-So, Lee Tae-Hwan as Lee Sung-Yeon, and Kang Ki-Young as Park Yoo-Sik.
Brief synopsis: After nine years of dedicating her life to the company and her boss, Secretary Kim Mi-So has finally decided to quit. It’s time to cross a bridge, start a new chapter, whatever you want to call it, she is out of there! But her boss, the handsome yet narcissistic CEO Lee Yeong-Joon, has no idea why she would ever want to quit. It’s up to Lee Yeong-Joon to debunk this mysterious resignation notice before she’s gone for good!
Behold the romantic comedy drama that held high rating throughout its entire run with chemistry so intense that some reporters thought that the two leads were actually dating! This drama is probably going to be one of the highlights of 2018.
The first thing that really took me by surprise is just how ion love with himself the main character Lee Yeong-Joon is. His high maintenance and self-centered personality ranks up there with Master’s Sun’s Joo Joong-Won, Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon’s Ahn Min-Hyuk, Missing 9’s Seo Joon-Oh, Boys Over Flowers’s Gu Joon-Pyo, Bride of the Water God’s Habaek, Ouran High School Host Club’s Suoh Tamaki, and I’m sure many more! Lee Yeong-Joon deserves his own little trophy for successfully making it into the club. How did such cool parents like his manage to raise such a boy, anyways?
This drama in general has a vibe similar to the film “Two Weeks Notice” (Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant). They share a similar concept, but “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim” still has a lot of originality and unique flare to offer!
There were lots of little parts I loved. I don’t know that I would ever name my dog “Big Bang Andromeda Supernova Sonic,” but I applaud the creativity 😂😂! Manager Bong and Secretary Yang’s little message on the coke bottle was also really touching.
And just a little side-note: However chaste Lee Yeong-Joon’s character is made out to be, NO MAN can unbutton a blouse without looking, with one hand, on the first try (episode 11).
Swoon-worthy lines! If I had to pick a favorite two...
1) “I can’t help but be a selfish boss, but I don’t want to be a selfish boyfriend.”
2) “Out of them all, the sexiest words are ‘I love you.’”
All of the cameos were great in this drama! We got special appearances from Park So-Dam, Lee Min-Ki and Jung So-Min, Park Byeong-Eun, Seo Hyo-rim, and Jung Yu-Mi. So keep watching for them as you enjoy this drama!
Really, it was fantastic. There’s a reason it kept up high and steady viewership ratings. The shining cast put the stars to shame and I loved every minute! 5/5 stars!
